HILARIOUS SPECIAL EFFECT MOMENTS
QUOTES
Sinbad:
It’s good to take time to enjoy the sky and the sea, isn’t it?
Doubar: Aye.
Fortune has indeed smiled upon us this voyage. Calm seas, soft winds, generous
merchants. {they laugh}
Firouz: Well,
Maeve better get here soon, or she’ll miss her lunch! {Sinbad picks up an
uncooked piece of fish—or something—that looks disgusting} Shall I call her?
Sinbad: {looks
like he’s going to be sick looking at their “lunch”} N—no! Ah, let her enjoy
herself. {Firouz looks confused, so Sinbad adds} The fresh air and all.
Doubar:
Was that a fireball?
Sinbad: Maeve’s
in trouble. Doubar, you come with me. Firouz, Rongar, stay here and keep your
eye out.
Firouz: For
what?
Sinbad: For
anything that might have you for lunch. Maeve doesn’t use her fireballs lightly.
Doubar:
What the devil is going on?!
Sinbad: I don’t
believe it!
Doubar: Rumina?
Maeve: You two
go on. It’s time I took care of her once and for all.
Sinbad: You’re
in no shape to take care of anyone but yourself. Come on, let’s go!
Maeve: Who are
you to give me orders?!
Sinbad: Your
captain! And your friend.
Maeve:
This is a place of darkness. And—and shadows.
Doubar: Could’a
told you that without reading the rock.
Sinbad:
Fine, it’s a graveyard.
Doubar: And it’s
gonna be ours if we don’t get out of Rumina’s way.
Sinbad: We
have to make a stand, and this place is as good as any. Over there, behind those
stones!
Maeve: We’re
desecrating magical grounds!
Sinbad: Well,
we’ll put a coin in the collection plate. Quickly, Maeve, over here!
Sinbad:
Maeve, I suggest you disable her with one of your fireballs. When she’s weakened
we’ll go in and try to overpower her.
Maeve: What if
she won’t let herself be overpowered?
Sinbad: Then we
go in for the kill.
Sinbad: {watches
her try to form fireballs, but they keep going out} Maeve!
Maeve: I don’t
know what’s wrong!
Sinbad:
Concentrate!
Maeve: I am
concentrating! It’s just not working!
Sinbad:
Need some help?
Rumina: Stand
back, sea-dog. I’ve tolerated your insolence long enough. Now you’ll feel my
wrath. You’ll all feel my wrath! {tries to use her powers, but nothing
happens}
Sinbad: Feeling
any wrath yet?
Maeve: No. But
I’m downwind of something rotten.
Rumina:
Well we can’t just stand here and stare at them.
Sinbad: I’m open
to suggestions.
Rumina: Well I
for one am not going to stand here and make goo-goo eyes with a bunch of ghouls
who have no flair for fashion; out of my way, cretins, or I’ll turn you into
toads. {the demons screech, turn around to face them, and they’re all
pushed back by a mysterious wind} Or perhaps we could stay her for a while…
observe their behavior… you know, learn—learn their weaknesses…
Sinbad: Yeah…
Firouz: A very
savvy scientific observation. Coming from a witch! {she glares at him} I
meant that as a compliment.
Sinbad:
Alright… we might as well make ourselves comfortable. Looks like we’re going to
be stuck here a while.
Rumina:
Comfortable? Have you looked at this place? It’s filthy.
Maeve: Why don’t
you conjure up a few servants? Tidy the place up.
Sinbad: Enough!
Rumina: {muttering}
You’re kidding. {he glares at her} Alright, you’re not kidding.
Maeve:
Whoever they are they’re still waiting for us.
Firouz: Maybe I
can reason with them, a—appeal to their intellect.
Doubar: Firouz,
don’t talk nonsense.
Firouz: Well at
least I’m trying to figure a way to get out of this.
Doubar: Oh, and
I’m not?! {looks over at Rongar} W—what are you looking at?! {Rongar
shakes his head sadly}
Rumina: So.
This is the big happy family you care so much for. Why don’t you just let them
fend for themselves and concentrate on how you and I are going to get out of
here.
Sinbad:
Are you an old one?
Reynard: No, no,
no, no, no! I’m not one of them! I’m Reynard. The caretaker of this lovely spot.
Sinbad: Well I
am Sinbad. And these are my—
Reynard: Ah,
please—no introductions necessary.
Sinbad: Excuse
me?
Reynard: I don’t
want to become too attached to you. You see… by the end of the day… you’ll all
be dead.
Maeve:
I’ve never heard of these old ones. And I’m a sorceress.
Rumina: A
sorcerer’s apprentice, peasant. I, however, am a true sorceress. The daughter of
the greatest sorcerer in the East. Turock.
Reynard: Well I
never heard of him. Erm, is he here as well?
Rumina: No.
He’s dead.
Reynard: Ah, he
couldn’t have been all that great, hmm?
Sinbad:
Rumina, can you use a sword?
Rumina: I’d
rather use my charm.
Sinbad: A sword
would be more effective.
Sinbad: I
thought I heard you calling me.
Rumina: Oh,
yeah. I, umm… I wan—I wanted to let you know that—that I wasn’t able to, umm—to
find any fruit trees. Anywhere.
Sinbad: Maybe we
should finish exploring together.
Rumina: Oh,
wise choice. There’s—there’s safety in numbers.
Sinbad: My
thoughts exactly.
Rumina:
Although… personally… I haven’t seen anything even remotely close to
being frightening.
Sinbad: Nor I.
Shall we…
Firouz: {finds
a rope with a sign that reads, “Is forbidden to touch”} Now why would
anybody put that sign here, except to stimulate curiosity. Old ones, you’re
dealing with a scientific mind here, I weigh the pros and cons of every
situation. You probably think I’m going to pull it, but I’m a scientific mind,
so I’m not going to pull it. Unless of course you know that I’m a scientific
mind, then I should pull it. But if you’re that… smart… {pulls the rope}
childish prank.
Maeve: I won’t
mind dying at the hands of the old ones—as long as I get to kill you first.
Maeve:
These fellows are better than they look!
Sinbad: It’s as
if they know every move we’re going to make…
Maeve: …Before
we make them!
Doubar:
Little brother, are you hurt?
Rumina: More to
the point, are you crazy?
Sinbad:
You know this twerp?
Trickster: Who are you calling twerp? Bone-head!
Sinbad:
I’m sure Rumina is as disappointed as you are.
Maeve: Oh, don’t
make fun of me.
Sinbad: Oh, I’m
not. I’m very worried about what happens when we run into her next.
Maeve: Next
time… I’ll be ready.
EPISODE IMAGE RECAP

POINTS TO PONDER
I love
how they reuse footage and props in this episode. First the statues from Episode
4, Still Life, and then the ocean, whirlpool clip from Episode 3, The
Beast Within, and finally the wind-spirits from Episode 10,
Conundrum.
Sinbad
and the art of recycling! But I still ADORE this episode. It's definitely one of
my favorites (as if the amount of quotes didn't give it away).
