THE PRINCE WHO WASN'T
Writer:
Ardwight Chamberlain
SUMMARY
A prince
enlists Sinbad to help him rid haunted Arborea of an evil usurper.
HILARIOUS SPECIAL EFFECT MOMENTS
QUOTES
Sinbad: What’s
that?
Doubar: Probably
a real ghost, trying to lure us into the forest.
Firouz: It’s
only wind. An owl at best.
Doubar: There’s
nothing “at best” about this place.
Doubar: Unworldly.
{sees a statue crying} What more proof do you need!
Firouz: No,
it’s of this world. Damp air meets cold stone. It’s called
condensation.
Evil King:
Damnation! How hard is it to kill a little boy?
Court Wizard: I wouldn’t know—not in my line,
really.
Evil King: You
and your scruples! Any wizard worth his salt would have rid me of that brat
months ago! Oh, but no…you’re too sensitive.
Evil King: That
die-hard fiend. I beat him in a fair fight! And still, he puts this… curse on
me!
Court Wizard: Well, it was you who gave him the
idea, sire. {turning to the soldier} You see… as he plants the sword into
King Alderon, and gave it a twist… Drax said, “I shall not rest until the last
of your line is snuffed out!” And the King with his dying word said, “So be it.
Let that be my curse, hell-hound!” That was three moons ago, and our lord and
master has not slept since.
Sinbad: My Prince,
I’ve known cowards; believe me, you’re no coward.
Doubar: You never
answered me or the boy, Firouz. Do you believe now?
Firouz: …No.
Sinbad: No?
After everything you saw? Firouz… how do you explain it?
Firouz: Food
poisoning. Those mushrooms we ate in the forest… well, it’s a well documented
fact that some varieties of mushrooms induce hallucinations. Often very vivid
ones. With all the talk of ghosts and such, it’s only natural that our
hallucinations would be of a spectral or ghostly nature… {glances around to
see everyone has moved on, ignoring him} Well, it IS possible!

POINTS TO PONDER
Another of my
favorite episodes. Not really sure why… I guess I just like the originality of
the story. And I find the evil king’s curse really amusing.
